Recession + Art

Posted in Art news, general interest by sarahbakerhansen on 5 March 2009

This short piece, from the March 9 issue of New York Magazine, tells another side of the story.

I hope this is a time for artists to produce work that makes a viable, lasting comment; I agree with some ideas presented that lately (and even sometimes locally, too), art has been constructed and presented for immediate reaction rather than long-term consideration. Now might be the time to say something that will hold water for longer than opening night, in both the art itself and the presentation of it.
